The first pie chart illustrates how energy is used in an average Australian household, while the other one depicts the greenhouse gas emissions caused by this energy use. Overall, an Australian household preferred to use energy for heating and water heating, while cooling was the least common choice. Accordings, water heating and other appliances caused the highest proportion of emissions from the consumption of energy, whereas cooling was less harmful to the environment.
Regarding the use of energy in a household in Australia, the Australian people often used heating and water heating, at 42% and 30% respectively. To a lesser extent, the figure for other appliances made up 15%, followed by the refrigerator, at less than 10%. Lighting and cooling accounted for the lowest proportion of energy, at only 4% and 2% respectively.
On the other hand, although heating was used frequently, water heating and other appliances caused most of the greenhouse gas emissions, at 32% and 28% respectively. Meanwhile, the figure for heating and refrigerator represented almost the same proportion, at around 15%. The appliances which were less harmful to the environment were lighting and cooling, at only 8% and 3% respectively.
