Then, the usa's birth rate rose dramatically to 15 per cent, which is the highest proportion in the usa. this was followed by a downward trend from 1950 and at 7 per cent at the end of the period.
Meanwhile, china's birth rate rose from about 10 per cent in 1920 to 15 per cent in 1935 before experiencing a sharp decrease in 1935 and remain at this level until 1945. After this, it surged dramatically to a peak of 20 per cent and dropped rapidly to less than 10 per cent in 1955. In the latter half of the century, china's fertility rate declined steadily to approximately 3 per cent in 2000.
