The graph illustrates the percentage of urbanization in four different Asian countries from 1970 to 2020, as well as predicted urbanization rates for the years 2030 and 2040. From the graph, we can see that THE Philippines had the highest urbanization rate in 1970, with over 30% of the population residing in cities but this percentage rise slowly only reaching about 50% by 2020 and is predicted to get slightly over 55% by 2040. ON the other hand when we look at Malaysia, they experienced a significant urbanization, with an increase of urban populations from 30% in 1970 to almost 75% in 2020 and predicted to get to over 80% in the next 20 years. On the other hand, Indonesia started with a relatively low urbanization rate in 1970, with less than 15% of the population living in cities. However, Indonesia’s urbanization rate increased rapidly over the past few decades, reaching almost 50% by 2020. The predicted urbanization rates for China are also the highest among the four countries, with an estimated 55% of the population living in cities by 2030 and 60% by 2040. In contrast to the Malaysia and Indonesia, Thailand’s urbanization rate remained relatively low like Philippines, with only around 20% of the population residing in cities in 1970. Although the percentage has risen slightly over the years, India’s urbanization rate remains the lowest among the four countries at 30% urbanization at 2020 and a predicted rate of around 45% by 2040. OVERALL, the graph provides a clear visualization of the differing urbanization rates in Malaysia to Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia. While Malaysia experienced A significant urbanization, Indonesia’s urbanization rate is rapidly increasing and both Philippines and Thailand still has a long way to get to Malaysia’s urbanization level .
