The line graph illustrates the number of participants in five different types of activities at a particular social centre in Melbourne, Australia, from 2000 to 2020.
Overall, the trend for film clubs and martial arts has been steadily increasing over the years, with film remaining the most popular choice at the centre. In addition, the number of participants in table tennis and musical theatre has increased significantly, while the opposite is true for amateur drama.
Throughout the period, the film club has consistently received the highest participation rate, with around 65 members, although it has dropped to a low of 60 in 2010. A similar but more common pattern of failure has been observed for martial arts membership, which fluctuates between 30 and 36 participants.
Meanwhile, amateur drama was the only activity that saw a decline. Although it increased slightly from around 26 to a peak of nearly 30 members in its first year, it steadily declined thereafter, ending with around 5 members and becoming the least popular success.
In contrast, table tennis demonstrated a gradual increase in popularity, starting from around 16 members and reaching 20 members in 2010, eventually doubling. Similarly, musical performances, which began in 2005, grew rapidly, reaching nearly 20 participants after 15 years.
