The graph below shows the average number of UK commuters travelling each day by car, bus or train between 1970 and 2030.
The line graph gives information about the number of commuters travelling in the UK on a daily basis by using three different vehicles over the 60-year period.
It’s obvious that there were significant changes in using means of transport shown on the graphs. The number of commuters using cars and trains rose considerably. Meanwhile, there was a dramatic decrease in travelling by bus.
From 19970 to 1980, commuters travelling by car, train and bus remained relatively stable about 5 million, 4 million and 2 million respectively before having substantial changes. Over the following 20 years, using cars and trains remarkably increased by about 2 million and 1 million in the year 2020. In comparison with bus, there was a slight decrease by 0,5 million every day
By 2030, the number of users by car reached a peak with 9 million on a daily basis, as well as there was a near threefold in travelling by train. By contrast, commuters using bus fell to a low just 3 million every day
