The graph below illustrates the time teacher spent per year in four separate countries named Japan, Spain, Iceland and USA in 2001.
Overall, it is noticeable that US teachers have the most teaching hours, while Japanese teachers have the opposite. Having said that, three of the departments of education saw an increase in hours.
In 2001, US teachers had their longest working hours in the upper secondary, at 1200. However, Japan's teaching hours just reached 700. Beside that, 200 and 220 are higher in Spain and Iceland respectively. Moreover, the Japanese primary teacher spent about 600 hours and 50 upper and lower hours in Spain and 10 lower hours in Iceland, while the USA teacher spent about 750 hours.
1000 hours is the number of hours a US middle school teacher spends in middle school. Iceland's hours are 400 lower, at 600 hours. Additionally, 750 hours, which is higher than 100 hours for a Japanese teacher in lower secondary, at 650 hours.
