The line graph demonstrates how the European elderly spent their leisure time in the period from 1980 to 2010.

As can be seen from the graph, while theatre experienced a fractional drop, others had growth. In addition, it is obvious that older people tend to enjoy playing sports most and surfing the Internet least most of the time.

Mostly, hiking experienced a dramatic rise and upsurge like a straight line. It stood at 20% in the 1980s, then happened to be the most appealing activity done by seniors in the 2010s, at 80%. However, playing sports generally did not show any sharp change during the given time.

Moving on to the other behavior, surfing the Internet suffered the strongest boom. In the 1980s, it was not really well known, but it increase gradually over two decades period, then more suddenly to 50% in the next decade. In the same fashion, reading saw a sharp improvement during the duration, which started at 30% to 60% at the end of the period. Meanwhile, spending time in the theatre declined gently, from 50% in the 1980s to 45% in the 2010s.
