The graph below shows the number of books read by men and women at Burnaby Public Library from 2011 to 2014.
The presented line graph demonstrates data about how many books read by people, divided by gender, at Burnaby Public Library over the period of four years, starting from 2011 to 2014.
The most striking feature to be observed is that, whilst women attendees accounted for the highest number of reading books at the beginning of period, it was replaced by men readers towards the end of survey.
Looking at the data in more detail, it is evident that in 2011, the amount of books read by females was about 5000 and this was 3000 greater than that of males. Just one year after, the gap between the numbers of books read by two sexes had widened significantly. By 2012, the number of books read by females rose dramatically to 8,000, whereas that of books read by males saw only a small increase to 4,000.
From 2012 and 2013, the figures for both genders rose to the same point of almost 10,000 books and then figure for male continued to increase with surpassing that those for females in the same year. At the final year period, while books number in case of reading by men steadily rose to hit the peak of about 140000, the latter experienced substantial decrease to the around 8000 which was the same amount with 2012.
