Essay topics:

The graph below shows the population figures for different types of turtles in India from 1980 to 2012.

The given graph illustrates the proportion of Indian turtles’ population among various species between 1980 and 2012. The graph took the figure in 1980 as an index number of 100 percent.

Overall, there is a category of those experiencing eventual increases, including all species and Olive Ridley Turtles, whereas the Green Turtles and Leatherback Turtles got the inverse trend.

In terms of those increasing over time, the figure of the all species section steadily increased at first until peaking in 1987, after which it fluctuated. Despite some dips between the years, the number remained higher than 100, reaching nearly 110. Olive Ridley Turtles got significant but gradual growth in roughly half of the period given, followed by fluctuations and a modest fall in the final years.

On the other hand, Green Turtles experienced an unstable trend. The figure varied through time but overall declined and hit its low of approximately 90. Leatherback Turtles escalated in the first 7 years, sharing the same peak with all species in 1987. However, the figure drastically dropped later by 50 in just 20 years and fell to the low of 55 at the end.
