In general, what stands out from the graph is that these three major world languages are predicted to witness upward trends in the number of learners. Another worth-noticing point is that English will still have more students than other languages.
Looking at the details, Spanish learners in 2020 started at just 200 million, but then there will be a considerable rise to nearly 500 million students in 2030. Next came the number of students studying Mandarin in 2020 with just 100 million; however, following this, Mandarin is believed to attract nearly 600 million students in 2030.
Furthermore, English is always the language that most people study. In 2020, there were approximately 550 million students studying English; however, this figure is predicted to rocket to 770 million in 2024 before its slight decline to 600 million students in 2026. Nevertheless, English is still forecasted to head this list in 2030 with over 700 million students.
