Looking at the details, from the period of 40 years starting from 1940, the percentages of old people aged 65 over in Japan decreased marginally from 5% to approximately 4%. However, there are considerable growths in proportions of over 65 years old people in Sweden and USA (from above 5% to just under 15% and from around 10% to 15% respectively). In the next 2 years, these amounts in Sweden rose sharply, the percentages in the USA drop insignificantly to just more than 14% and the proportions of over 65 years old Japanese went up slightly and reached 5% again in 2000.
More specifically, the amounts of the population aged 65 over in the USA are predicted to be remained constantly until 2020 and then shoot up to just below 25% in 2040. The proportions of over 65 years old elders in Sweden are expected to be increased and reach approximately 25% in the last surveyed year. In addition, in the period from 2020 to before 2040, the percentages of the Japanese aged 65 over are guessed to be rocketed by 15% and then reach the peak of around 27% in the year 2040.
