The line graph illustrates the proportion of three platforms of music sales over a period of 8 years, namely streams, downloads, and CDs purchased.
In general, what stood out from the graph was that there was a significant increase in the percentage of sales through streams platform. In the meantime, the figure for downloads and CDs purchased experienced the opposite trends.
The proportion of total sales in streams platform was lowest for the first time in 2011, at approximately 5% in total. Over the 8 following years, it is clear to see that the figure for streams experienced a significant incline, a jump of more than 35%.
In the others, until 2014, the percentage of downloads sales increased slightly to over 40% while the figure for CDs purchased experienced a dramatic downward of 17%. By 2018, the proportion of CDs purchased sales in total continued to fall, dropping to 25%, whereas figures for downloads sales also declined significantly to 30%.
