The graph shows the Japanese average monthly salary (Yen) from 1953 to 1983, and the prices of black and white television and color television during the same period.
The line graph compares the payment of color TV, black and white TV and the median income of people living in Japan in terms of the amount of money between 1970 and 2000.
Overall, it is clear that the cost of colour televisions and the black and white televisions experienced downward trends. Additionally, the reserve pattern could be seen in the figure of salary.
With regard to the price of the black and white TVs, starting at 110 thousand Yen in 1970, this figure plummeted to nearly 40 thousand Yen before hitting the lowest point at only 20 thousand Yen in 2000. A similar trend, to a greater extent, can be witnessed in the price of colour TV, whose figure was 100 thousand Yen before 1980. After which it lost momentum and shrank to more than 65 thousand Yen, and then ended the period at just under 50 thousand Yen.
As for the Japanese’s salary, a stability of under 20 to 30 thousand Yen was seen between 1970 and 1990. Luckily, the average income gathered pace to soar to approximately 70 thousand Yen in the final year.
