The given table shows changes in percentages of cinemagoers regardless of ages while the line chart illustrates/ compares the average of movie attendance based on 4 different age brackets in Australia between 1996 and 2000.
Overall, although there was an increasing number of Australians attending cinemas, the average annual visits decreased over the given time. Additionally, it is evident that the changes in cinema visits of all ages followed a parallel pattern, albeit at different rates.
Considering the table, there was 62 % of the Australian population going to the cinema in 1996. This number reached its peak after a year, at 72%, where it plateaued afterwards, except for a slight decrease in 1999. Meanwhile, a minor increase in the frequency was recorded in 1997 which went up from 10.3 to 11.1, however, the figure dipped to 8.2 1999.
It can be seen from the second chart that the older people got, the less they visited the cinema despite years. In 1996, the average number of cinema visits lay between 10 and 15/ year, in which the younger age group visiting cinema slightly more than the older group. The average cinema attendance of all the surveyed age groups fluctuated similarly from 10 to 25/ year throughout the given period.
