The two given charts illustrate the amounts of male and female workers of year 1975 and 1995 in different employment sectors of the Republic of Freedonia.
As can be seen from the graph, in most of the sectors, the numbers of male employees were superior than the female ones. In 1975, the amounts of male workers were higher than the female ones in all of the six given sectors.
In 1975, the public sector (non – defence) accounted for the biggest number of workers – nearly 1300, followed by wholesale and retail trade and manufacturing which were 1220 and 890 workers respectively. In the public sector, male employees accounted for over 800 people, while the female was just about 620, which was over 200 people fewer than the male.
In 1995, the numbers of female workers in most of the sectors experienced significant rises. In some sectors such as communication and wholesale and retail trade, the amounts of female employees even rose over the male ones. Female employees’ number in communication sector was much higher than the male one – nearly 700 compared with 250. In the sector of wholesale and retail trade, female workers’ number peaked at 800, while male was 100 people fewer.
