The map below shows the changes of a city between 1950 and present.

The map demonstrates the development of a city since 1950.
Overall, there have been major changes with the expansion of the population, business zone, transportation infrastructure as well as the river transformation.
In the year 1950, the number of citizens was 20,000 with housing exclusively located on the northern side. In the middle of the map was the business district. The city was divided into four parts by the two main roads crossing each other, on one of which there was a huge bridge. In the east stood an airport, which was near the river stretching from the west. The authority building was situated in the south, next to one main road.
At present, the city has witnessed dramatic improvements with the tenfold population as compared to that of the past. The residential region has been tremendously widened to all four directions, and the business site southwards. One extra main route with a bridge over the river has been erected, pushing the government building a little downwards. The capacity of the airport has been increased to accommodate more flights and passengers. Surprisingly, the river has experienced a radical change: it has been turned into two giant lakes in the center of the city for water supply. To the southeast of the river, a dam was constructed to harness its water power.
