maps
The given map depicts the transformation occured in one specific art gallery in Australia from 1950 to now.
Overall, it is clearly seen that the art gallery has undergone significant changes including relocation, new additions and replacement.
A closer look at the map reveals that in 1950, the center of the gallery was devoted for the sculpture display, covering the largest area. To the right wing, there were three equal sections which were used for early european, middle european and australian art exhibitions. Turning to the left, the whole area was divided into three equal sectors serving amenities. From the entrance, there were the bookshop, temporary exhibition and the café respectively. It is also noticeable that the courtyard occupied the whole area to the northends.
After an approximately 70-year period, the art gallery witnessed considerable changes. To be more specific, a new ticket booth has been constructed at the entrance to the sculpture display area, which still makes up the majority of the gallery. Even though the right side is still divided into three equal parts, the australian art exhibition room has been relocated at north-east, which used to be the courtyard, paving way for the establishment of the asian art showroom. The remaining of the courtyard was equally shared by a half to construct the australian aboriginal and children art room. Minor changes are observed in the left site as the temporary exhibition and bookshop remains the same. Nevertheless, the café has shrinked in half for a new WC addition.
