The pie charts below show the online sales for retail sectors in New Zealand in 2003 and 2013.
The given pie charts depict the proportion of the different retail products purchased online in New Zealand from 2003 to 2013
Overall, it is clearly seen that while an increasing number of customers allocated their expenditures on films, music and books, the opposing trends were observed in clothes and travelling items.
A closer look at the statistics reveals that in 2003, whereas tourism-related products were the most prevalent choices among buyers at 37 percent, far exceeding the following figure, the percentage of books was merely one fifth, occupying the lowest position. In the subsequent ten years, despite a decline by 8 percent, the proportion of products in tourism sectors was still higher than the latter by a wide margin with the disparity between two figures being 7 percent.
It is striking that in the number of sales for films, music and clothing shared precise similarities with 22 percent each. The quantity of films and music goods traded online then increased dramatically to 33 percent, surpassing the number of travelling-associated products and placing at the highest level. In contrast, clothes underwent a margin reduction to 16, ending the surveyed period at the last place.
