In some countries young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year between finishing high school and starting unit studies. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for young people who decide to do this.
Young people in certain nations are usually motivated to either engage themselves in doing some jobs or go for tours for one year before beginning their university studies once they complete college. Definitely, the decision made by these students have both positive and negative effects on them and the society as a whole. This will be discussed in my essay.
For students to be encouraged in take up some jobs before furthering higher institutions have benefits to their live. As this ,will help them to appreciate value for money. Has students have to face the challenges of each day at work and they must meet up with the expectations and the demand of the job. If they are paid salary at the end of the month, it will help to know how to plan and save from money earned, thus, preparing them to be responsible when they are fully matured. Such is seen in UK schools where there students take up jobs after completing high school. By so doing, they are learning the culture of culture of how to work hard and have extra savings from the money relearn. More so, reason for encouraging students to go for tours after secondary school is That, it exposes them to know how things are been done in other culture such as having privilege to see how food is been prepared and how its taste, for example,a Nigeria students that travelled to China will see their delicacy. Again, they can also pick one or two Chinese language for easy communication with people around.
On the other hand, giving young people the motivation to work or go for journeys before moving on to higher education also have demerits effect on them. Because some of the students may not what to continue with their education again. Since they have been exposed to how to make money at early stage in life. They might decide continue with the work, hence making them half educated. Furthermore, leaving them to go for tourism may also exposed them to some bad peer influence like smoking and drinking alcohol. If such is accepted in the country they are going to. As there may be no laws or regulations guiding against this.
To conclude with, certainly there are benefits as well as disadvantaged of encouraging young people to work or travel once they complete high school as it will help them to know how to save money but it will exposed them to some bad peer influence.
