People have different views about whether children should start their formal education as early as possible or commence their education at a much older age of seven or eight. Personally, I believe starting to access the educational environment will benefit children more than a later start.
On the one hand, there is justification for the view of some people that children should begin formal education at least 7 years old. It is assumed that sending children to school late so that children have more time to spend with their parents and participate in extracurricular activities as well as develop soft skills to be ready to enter the school environment. Furthermore, admitting children to school at a later stage would save the families from the hefty schooling expenses for a few years, which they have to pay. At the age of 7 and above, children are also aware enough to control behavior and speech, and have mental and physical health to participate in learning activities like handling burdensome shoolwork in the upcoming years.
On the other hand, I tend to agree with other people that it is highly recommended that children start early schooling. Firstly, parents do not have too much time to take care of their children full-time, they also have to focus on their work, so sending children to kindergartens or children's centers is the optimal solution. Secondly, as children move away from the comfort of their homes, they become more adaptable to the changing environment and give them the ability to respond to various situations at an early age. Besides, going to school early will create opportunities for children to meet new friends and develop basic skills such as addition and subtraction.
To sum up, both opinions have their own support groups in different parts of the world. However, children should start their formal education at age 4 as it has a significant positive impact on their development and learning capabilities.
