Some people think that physical strength is important for success in sport, while other people think that mental strength is more important. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Strength plays a vital role to become a successful sportsperson. A sportsman should be powerful in both the aspects mentally as well as physically. Only being physically strong will not help to achieve your goals in the game. In my opinion, a person who is mentally strong could be a better sportsman as the mental strength builds the capability to deal with critical situations and overcome failures.

Firstly, the person having a stable and strong state of mind is very much capable to handle the pressurized situations during the game. Being psychologically strong enables an individual to understand the criticality of the situation which helps in taking decision making.
For example, in the game of cricket, Virat Kohli the captain of the Indian cricket team is famous for tackling the most critical and pressurized situations. He has named so many records for performing fantastically while chasing the big targets when the team was under pressure. He would not be able to do so if he was mentally weak.

Secondly, A sportsman should have acceptance of failure. In sports the result could be anything, someday you win, someday you lose. To overcome your losses a sportsman should have a positive attitude and a strong belief in themselves. Failures can have a very bad impact on players with weak mindset, it may lead to depression and demotivation. To overcome failures, a player should have a fighting spirit that builds a strong belief that they can fight in any situation.

To conclude, mental strength is more important than physical strength for becoming a successful sportsperson. Physical strength is of no use if you are not able to deal with the mental pressure and failures.
