Looking at the table it is readily clear that for all five countries people spent most on Food/Drinks/Tobacco. People in Turkey spent the most percentage of the national consumer expenditure in 2002, 32.14%. Second to Turkey in this category is Ireland, where people spent 28.91% of the total money on these items. The other three countries, Italy, Spain and Sweden had their percent expenditure roughly in the same region, all below 20%.
In terms of Clothing/Footwear, among all countries, Italian consumers devoted the most of their expenditure on them, 9%. The other 4 countries’ people spent around the same proportion of the money, all close to 6%.
Leisure/Education expenditure was the least expenditure in all the 5 countries listed, with Turkey spending the most, 4.35%, followed by Sweden and Italy, both spending about the same percentage (3.22% and 3.20% respectively). Ireland and Spain both spent around 2% of their national consumer expenditure. Comparing Leisure/Education expenditure with other categories, all five countries spent significantly less fraction of their money on leisure or education.
