Essay topics:

The table below shows the monthly expenditure of an average Australian family in 1991 and 2001.

The table illustrates the average spending on a monthly basis of the family in Australia in two years 1991 and 2001.
Overall, the amount of money spent on Other goods and services was the highest in both years while the opposite was true for Clothing. In addition, there was an increase in almost all kinds of goods and services that the Australian family spent from 1991 to 2001, except for Clothing and Transport.
In two years, the expenditure of Non-essential goods witnessed a minimal rise of 20 Australian Dollars, from 250 AUD to 270 AUD, accounted for nearly a third of the total spending. This was followed by the figure for food, at 155 AUD in 1991 and 160 AUD in 2001. A similar trend was experienced for housing, at 95 AUD and 100 AUD, respectively.
A significant improvement was seen in the amount of money spending on Electricity and Water of Australian families, from 75 AUD to 120 AUD. By contrast, the monthly expenditure for Transport plummeted to only 25 AUD in 2001 and the goods and services which an average family in Australia spent monthly dropped by one-third belonged to Clothing.
