The table below shows the number of female prisoners by race and age in 2015
The table compares four different races in terms of the quantity of female inmates in different age ranges in the year 2015.
Overall, what stands out from the table is that whilst the total of Black female prisoners was the highest, the reverse was true for the White ones. Another noteworthy point is there was a consistent trend in the number of convicts through age groups.
A closer look at the table reveals that in the age under 17, the number of Black female prisoners ranked first, accounting for 142 inmates which tripled the White's quantity. The female inmates' populations witnessed a remarkable increase in the 18-19 age bracket, just under 20 for the White which was one-third the Black before shooting up to 164 and 426 for the White and Black thirtysomething prisoners. The number of Black and White females who were imprisoned collapsed by 100 prisoners at the age of 40 - 44 (360 and 131 prisoners) and have a downward trend when compared to the older groups, reaching the trough of 6 Black detainees and 2 White detainees at the over-65s group.
There was a steady decline in the number of Asian and Hispanic women detainees between the 13-17-year-olds and the 18-19-year-old from 67 to 23 Asian prisoners which was approximately the Hispanic inmates. After rising dramatically to 172 Asians and 171 Hispanics in the 40-44 age band, the population of female inmates slumped and touched the lowest point around 4 prisoners at the over 65 age group.
