The two charts illustrate the amount of money stemming from the turnover of Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas between 1999 and 2004 in five different European nations.

Overall, the UK was the country which earned the highest amount of money in both coffee and banana. From 1999 to 2004, the sale of coffee and bananas increased except for the figure of bananas in Sweden and Denmark.

Looking at the coffee’s sale, Sweden earned the lowest money at $0.8, followed by $1 in Belgium and $1.8 in Denmark. After five years, these datas rose around 2 or 3 million euros in each category. The sale of UK coffee started at 1.5 million before climbing to $20 in 2004, making the UK become the country which had the highest sales. Interestingly, Switzerland earned $6 in 2004, which was twice as much as in 1999.

Turning to banana’s sale, the UK was the leading country in both years with $15 in 1999 and $47 in 2000. In 1999, the sales in Switzerland and Belgium was around $1, which increased significantly to 5.5 million and 4 million respectively. In contrast, Sweden and Denmark witnessed a gradual decrease in the amount of sales, from $1.8 to $1 for the former and $2 to $0.9 for the latter
