The tables below give information about sales of fairtrade-labelled coffee and banana in 1999 and 2004 in five european countries.
The given table shows the total sales of coffee and bananas from Fairtrade-labelled in the UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden between 1999 and 2004.
Overall, it can be seen that generally, the sales of Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas had increased in both goods except for two countries: Sweden and Denmark.
In 1999, the coffee sales ranged from €0.8 millions to three milions. However, five years later, the UK had the most significant coffee sales at € 20 million. In contrast, Switzerland spent money on this € three million in 1999 and consumed a double amount of it in the last year. Although the remained three countries preferred to drink more coffees in 2004 compared to 1999, the figure of sales showed a slight rise.
The most remarkable feature in banana's sales was that there was a dramatic soar in sales in Switzerland from € 15 million at the beginning of the period to approximately € fifty million. On the other hand, the UK and Belgium spent much less than that of Switzerland, ranging from only € 1 million and 0.6 million respectively in 1999, and in 2004 its figures went up to €5.5millions and €4 millions in each country. In the meantime, the sales of this fruits in Sweden and Denmark drop a little to € one million and €0.9 millions in 2004 from €1.8 million and more or less € 2 million respectively.
