The three charts compare the change in expenditure of a UK school in three different years.
It is clear that teacher’s salaries constituted the largest percentage of total spending throughout the period. Specifically, it increased from 40% in 1981 to 50% in 1991 and then dropped by 5% in 2001. While other worker’s salaries has been declined constantly, from 28% in 1981 to 15% in 2001.
Spending on resources such as books and furniture and equipment is similar in 1981, at 15%. Expenditure of resources such as books experienced a rise to 20% in 1991 and then dropped to 9% in 2001. Money spent on furniture and equipment decreased dramatically to only 5% in 1991, but this figure rose remarkably to 23% in 2001, became the second largest expense at that year. Rising trend was seen in insurance, which increase from 2% in 1981 to 8% in 2001.
Overall, the majority of money was spent on teacher’s salaries while other worker’s salaries decreased rapidly. The spending of resources such as books and furniture and equipment both experienced fluctuations. There was a steady rise in insurance.
