Essay topics:

The three pie charts below show how the changes in annual spending by a particular UK school in 1981, 1991, and 2001.

The pie charts indicate the variations in yearly expenditure by a certain school in the UK in three surveyed years.
Overall, salary paid for teachers accounted for the biggest proportion in this school’s annual budget while the least belonged to expenses on insurance. In addition, spending on the other categories experienced some interesting fluctuations.
Starting in 1981, the total yearly spending on insurance took up a modest amount, just 2%, after which it increased to 8% in 2001. Meanwhile, in 1981 the figure for teachers’ salaries made up 40%, before reaching to half of the total spending in 1991. However, it declined slightly to 45% in 2001.
Salaries paid for other workers gradually dropped through the three questioned years, starting at 28% in 1981 and hitting the low at 15% in 2001. Amazingly, despite getting the same amount of money spent in 1981, the figures for resources and furniture and equipment fluctuated contradictorily over the period. Clearly, in 1981 the total amount of money spent on buying resources was responsible for 15%, followed by an incredible rise to 20% in 1991, but falling down to 9% in 2001. By contrast, between 1981 and 1991, this school remarkably cut down on the budget for furniture and equipment from 15% to 5%, before climbing up again to 23% in 2001.
