Topic: The charts below show the performance of a bus company in terms of punctuality, both actual and target (what actually happened compared to what the company was trying to achieve), and the number of complaints from passengers. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The first chart gives information about the effectiveness of running bus services regarding punctuality of a bus company according to actual and target, while the other illustrates the figure for complaints collected from passengers between 1999 and 2003.
As can be seen, it is apparent that the proportion of services arriving on time in regard to actual records underwent a significant upheaval throughout the examined period before recovering. In contrast, the opposite was true for the company’s goal. Noticeably, although the percentage of running buses on time increased, the number of complaints from passengers rose considerably.
Looking at the first chart, the ratio of services arriving punctual in both actual and target was pretty similar, standing at 85% and 86% respectively in 1999. Surprisingly, in the following year, while the figure for the company’s target remained stable, there was a downward trend in terms of actual departures on time by around 3%. Then, it witnessed a significant fluctuation in actual departures before growing again successfully to reach over 85%, even far surpassing the ratio of services arriving on time regardless of target.
In the meantime, in 1999, the number of complaints was the smallest in comparison to the figure in the next few years, making up merely 70%. After experiencing a considerable fluctuation, until 2001 the ratio started witnessing a negative trend, climbing dramatically to reach the peak of roughly 120 per thousand passenger journeys at the end of the period.
