Two maps show the change of a coastal town, called Pentland, from 1950 to 2007.
The given graphs illustrate the transformation of a coastal hamlet, which is known as the Pentland, in 1950 and 2007.
Overall, it is evident that the town witnessed significant changes, cutting down some of the natural beauty while extending the residential area and providing more options for recreational activities.
The first change is the construction of a yacht marina, surrounded by an additional coastal road, which joined the unchanged main roads. On the right side of which, apartments with nice sea views had been builted. In the southeastern area of the map, a grassland had been removed to make way for more accommodations, with several more houses.
On the bottom left of the map, another grassland had been flattened to make space for a cinema. In the northwestern area, an industrial area was redesigned as a park along with a swimming pool. Additionally, a car park which use to be located in the eastern area of the map had been relocated to this area. Along two sides of the horizontal road, many shops appeared, providing more recreational services.
