unemployment graduates
The given bar chart depicts the proportion of jobless graduates in a particular European from 2008 to 2009.
Overall, it is clearly seen that there were more male graduates suffering from unemployment than females.
A closer look at the chart reveals that in January 2008, the unemployment rate of men was higher than that of women by a tiny margin, with the disparity of 3 percent. From the initial figures of 7 and 10 percent respectively, the proportions of unemployed females and males both declined considerably at the same pace in July before doubling at the end of the year.
It is noticeable that the unemployment rates in 2009 were higher than those in 2008 with the exception for the percentage of women out of work in April. In 2009, while the proportion of jobless male graduates followed an upward trend from virtually 13 in January to its peak at roughly 24 percent in October, its counterpart underwent significant fluctuation ranging from merely 6 to 13 percent.
