Task 1:
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
You live in Ho Chi Minh City. You moved to Manchester to study English three months ago. You have just received an email from a friend of mine, Sara from London. Read part of her email below.
What's Manchester like? I bet the weather's not too good! Have you still got that part-time job in the fast-food restaurant? It must be a good way of speaking to new people and making friends.
What about the family you're staying with? Do you go out much in the evening? I hope the English classes are going well.
Sara
Write a reply to Sara. In your email, you have to describe Manchester and the weather there, tell her about your part-time job, the family you are staying with, and your activities in the evening, and finally you have to write about your English classes there.
You should write at least 120 words.
Dear Sara,
How’s it going? I hope that you’re well and I’m really happy to receive your letter. It’s been such a long time since we last spoke, right? I’m sorry for not replying sooner, but I’m so busy studying to catch up with other students in here.
I’m writing with regard to my life in Manchester.
Firstly, the weather is quite hot because it is still summer no. I have to change my clothes three times a day due to my sweat body. Secondly, I still work as the waiter in the fast food restaurant which is near my house. People in that restaurant is so nice and the boss is very friendly, generous and even give me discounts if I suppose to eat my dinner in here.
Besides, I live in a flat with a foreign family. Despite hard work, they still come home as soon as possible to make a dinner together all the weekday so we rarely eat out. And on the weekend, they often invite me to going swimming with them to get well-built bodies. Last but not least, I have been trying my best to get on well with my friends as I can’t understand what they say. What a language barrier. That’s why I have to study in my English classes twice a week with native speakers.
Well, that’s all for now. Anyway, I must go and get on with my process. Give my love to your parents. When you have a moment, drop me a line and tell me about your life. I look forward to hearing from you.
Kindly regard,
Trung
