You and your family are living in rented accommodation in an English speaking country. You are not satisfied with the condition of some of the furniture.
Write a letter to your landlord. In your letter
introduce yourself
explain what is wrong with the furniture
say what action you would like the landlord to take
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Dear Sir,
I am Anand, your tenant, living at Door No. 28, James Street, Toronto. I am writing this letter to bring it your notice about the state of furniture in the rented house. Please allow me to elaborate.
Since last week, there is an increase of termites in the wooden furniture and infestation makes it really uncomfortable to dwell here. In addition to this, the chairs of the Dining table wobble and do not ground properly on the floor. My kids are really afraid of falling whenever they use it. We have tried our best to fix these issues but it has gone beyond our financial limit now.
As per the rental agreement, it is clearly stated that this accommodation will be furnished in good condition. However, it is not true now. Please arrange a seasoned carpenter and a pest control agent to fix the Dining table and wooden furniture before it gets worn out. Please note that if these issues are not fixed in the next two weeks, you will have to refund my rent and advance amount paid as per the rental contract.
Expecting your prompt action.
Yours faithfully,
Anand Elumalai
