Some psychologists say that the main reason for violent crime among teenagers is that children nowadays are not receiving the social and emotional learning they need from parents and teachers. I think there are several reasons for this.
Parents are too busy to take care of their children all time. They provide a smartphone for them and let their kids do whatever they want with their spare time. This can lead the children to develop bad habits, live away from society, and only interact with the unrealistic world on their smartphones. As a result, they become selfish and easy to start a fight since they lack emotional support from parents and interactions with parents. Besides, teachers at school do not teach their students social and emotional skills such as loving nature, giving help to people who need them… Teachers are attending too much on the academic achievement of students. If their learners do well academically, they can have a better opportunity in their future career.
However, there are other reasons for young crime among teenagers. Firstly, some types of entertainment like TV, games, internet can affect children directly. They sometimes recommend bad advertisements and wake up viewers’ curiosity. Secondly, what types of friends that children communicate with also influence them. If those friends easily get fight with others, the children can become a person like that shortly.
To conclude, children can walk on the wrong path without parents’ attention, who supposed to provide them with necessary life skills, but some can actively get social and emotional learning by themselves and become a good citizen in the future.
