In some countries, more and more adults continue to live with their parents even after they have completed education and found jobs. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?
It is indisputable that there has been a surge in the number of young people who continue to reside with their parents, even after graduating from university and landing jobs, in some parts of the world. While there are certain advantages to this trend, I firmly believe that its disadvantages outweigh any benefits.
On the one hand, staying with parents allows young adults to have an easier start to the multifaceted adult life, especially for those who are just starting out in their careers. Firstly, living at home enables young people to save money and establish a solid financial foundation, as they can split the cost of living with their parents. Additionally, living with family can provide a source of emotional support, which can be valuable during challenging times. For example, when they are sick or in a sad mood, parents can be a valuable source to take care of them, listen to their concerns, and give guidance.
On the other hand, I contend that the drawbacks of continuing to live with parents outweigh any benefits. Living with parents can lead to conflicts and tensions, particularly if there are differences in opinions or lifestyles. Parents may hold rigid religious or cultural beliefs that their children do not agree with, which can lead to disagreements and resentment. Furthermore, living with parents may mean that personal boundaries are not respected. Children may feel as though they have no privacy, while parents can think that they have no control over their children's conduct.
In conclusion, despite such apparent benefits, the practice of continuing to live with parents, when finishing education and finding employment, causes more drawbacks.
