Essay topics:

Some schools have restricted the use of mobile phones. Is this is a positive or negative development

With the advent of technology the use of cell phones have risen especially among the students. However, these devices can play a crucial role in safety and learning but many schools have imposed a restriction on their usage in the campus. In my opinion, this a positive development which can not only improve the academic performance of students but also enhance their social interaction with colleagues and teachers.
The major benefit of restricting phone use in the classroom can improve learning. This is because there would be fewer distractions in the class. For example, when a student carry their mobile phone in school there is a constant urge to peek into the phone to check for new updates. Even the most proficient teacher cannot spot the child using the device amid the lecture. These distractions draws the attention away from the lessons and impair the concentration. A ban of mobile phones during class assists the learners to interact with the lecturer and allows them to focus.
Additionally, their engagement with other peers will also increase which will help to improve their communication skills and even discard the feeling of isolation and the solitude. For instance, if a student has a doubt in a particular concept and is unable to access the teacher they can seek assistance from their fellow mates in the school and hence clear the confusion. This reciprocity can lead to a boost in confidence and also friendship. These social benefits can only be achieved through a ban on cell phones.
In conclusion, despite phones are an integral part of our lives their usage must be limited in the school premises. With implementation of few norms regarding the operation of phones and prohibition in certain instances students are able to learn better and strengthen friendship with their peers.
