There are many different types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the traditional music of a country more important than the international music that is heard everywhere nowadays?
In today's fast-paced world, people often find themselves consumed by various priorities, leaving little time for leisurely activities such as music. Nonetheless, music remains a universally affordable and accessible form of entertainment for the general populace, with numerous bands and dance groups attaining international fame. This rise in popularity has led to debates regarding the relevance of traditional music compared to its modern adversaries and whether music as a whole can maintain its foothold. In this essay, I shall provide insights into these questions, complemented by rationales.
It is irrefutable that music holds a vital role in our cultural lives. Melodies have the power to evoke emotions in individuals, reminding them of their national and personal identities. Furthermore, it helps people to express themselves through rhythms and tunes, chasing away the blandness of everyday life. In addition to that, apart from such artistic importance, music also has a practical role for countless individuals around the globe. Numerous people often utilize background tunes during work because of the visible benefits they bring to the table, for instance, improving their focus and productivity. Moreover, music serves as a relaxing incentive, unwinding stresses and pressures on our minds.
As for the second question, the role of traditional music in modern days is of undoubtedly paramount significance. While the popularity of foreign songs is undeniably rising, overall, despite the catchy tunes and lyrics and the accompaniment of dances and effects they have, to the native population, the cultural value and meaning they have attached to themselves are often little in comparison with the centuries-old history of traditional music, which is an integral component in innumerable cultures, serving as a display and preservation of their unique beauties. Additionally, they are also a gateway connecting the present to the past so that later generations can keep to their origins. As such, they have the potential to foster social cohesion and promote cultural understanding, making them a crucial element in shaping our societies.
In conclusion, the harmony of notes and chords provides our lives with an impactful and enjoyable feeling and to rid ourselves of our burdens, and folk music is an indisputable contributor to this.
