The choice towards buying imported food is basically derived from the common assumption that imported food items are way lot superior to regional produce. Once again the individuals could be made aware of the overcharging policy of the imported goods upon citing the ever increasing demand of these eatables, thereby exploiting the consumers all the more, once the consumers realise they would automatically happily buy relatively cheaper and better local food. For example, the Indian government is currently holding such workshops across the country to make people see the way in which Indian herbs and Indian ingredients can be even substituted in Italian or Chinese cuisines.
