Essay topics:

If you need to take a course, which professor’s course would like to take
A professor who was voted the most popular
A professor who had just won an award for an outstanding research

Generally speaking, choosing a course in university can be based on various factors, one of which is the professor aiming to teach these courses. Some students who are not detriment in their studies may want to take a course with someone popular among students; however, others prefer to be taught by someone who is awarded for excellent research. From my viewpoint, I personally believe that educating under the supervision of someone receiving an award in his field can be more beneficial for students. There are some reasons to illustrate this, two of which will be elucidated in the following paragraphs.
Taking a course with a professor who is popular, sometimes can have bad effects on students’ academic progress. Because sometime professor popularity is based on some students’ opinions which may be foul and can distract students' minds. For example, sometimes some professors are popular for their easiness on students' grades. So students who do not want to challenge themselves in being at class that requires more studying will take the class even with knowing that they will not learn the course profoundly. Whereas taking a course with someone who has been making a lot of effort to pushing back the frontiers of the knowledge, will be more helpful for students not only for their academic program but also for the future.
So taking a course with a professor who won an award should be considered as a privilege to the students. Since the professor has been researching in his field for a long time, so he is informed with different aspects of the given course, and as a result, the students will learn the course more efficiently. Also since the professor has been faced with many obstacles for reaching the climax of his work, students can gain a lot of good advice which can help them to find their way to success. Back then when I was in college I remember I used to have a course with one of the top professors who had accomplished some brilliant works in his field. Due to his success, he was a pioneer in his way of teaching. For teaching more effectively, he preferred to be a guide on the side rather than a sage on the stage. He helped us to increase our intellectual ability which was beneficial for us to solve many problems
