airships can be widely used nowadays
According to the reading, airships can be widely used nowadays for three important reasons but the professor makes all the ideas dubious and presents some evidence to refute them all. First of all, the reading passage claims that airships consume less fuel because they can be used just in vertical lift, but on the opposite side, the lecturer brings up this idea that although airships need less fuel but they are some especial lighter gases such as Hydrogen and Helium.
The first one, Hydrogen; fires easily so leads in tragic accidents and the second, Helium; is difficult to obtain. As a result, economic solutions for safety and cost make it unpleasant to use airships.
Furthermore, the reading holds the view that airships can pick up heavy logs. On the contrary, the lecturer dismisses this idea due to the fact that carrying for example three logs in a forest can not carry on in a steady and safety way without crashing as the result of forces of surrounded trees such as balloons can not.
Finally, the reading declares that airships are a good replacement of satellites. On the opposite side, the lecturer holds the view that airships can rise virtually 14 km above the surface and there are strong winds at this distance, so the airship needs much fuel to resist against the winds. As a result, the airship consumes the fuel quickly and should come back to the earth for refreshing. So, airships can not provide uninterrupted information such as satellites.
To sum up, it is clear that the reading passage and the lecturer can not see each other on the same ground.
