Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
In the past, young people depended too much on their parents to make decisions for them; today young people are better able to make decisions about their own lives.
This statement is fundamentally correct; young people nowadays are less depended to their parents to make important decisions of their life; in my point of the view because of the new world development, parents unable to see the most of the opportunities surrounding their children. Therefore, they can't help to them, so by the time young people learns how to make their own decisions by themselves. I want to reinforce my opinion from the following aspects.
The chief reason why I generally agree with the statement is that in the past time younger depends financially to their parent. Parent would pay for their school, university and marriage. Therefore, naturally younger didn't have self-confidence to decide for their own life. On the other hand, most of the younger obtain their own money and in the most aspects they are independent from their parent and can decide for their future.
The second reason why I generally agree with the statement is that most of our parent work outside and after that they are so tires to spend time with their children to understanding them mentally. Therefore, when younger asks help to make a decision they are unable to see all of the abilities of their children, so most of the time their decision don't work. Younger, on the other hand are spoiled. most of the time when the outcome was good they say ”I make this decision,” while when the things didn't go on the way they are plan, they say “you enforce me to do it “ which we saw most of the parent todays feel responsible for their children failures.
The last but not the least, world developed so fast which parent because of their lack of the time and energy can't achieve it, so they are unable to see the new opportunities which new development render to their children. My uncle says that when he wanted to chose his university major he really loves The Computer Science. However, my grandpa opposed with him and he studied electronic engineer, but now we see that every place need a computer engineers.
In sum, I think parent should try to update themselves before any giving advice to their children in some cases they must ask from some others to get a broad view. On the other hands children should listen to their parent and know their challenges for them and wants from them, obtain their experience, but finally I think parent should allow to their children to make the decisions to their own life which we see todays. base on the reasons I mentioned above I totally agree with the statement.
