The reading and the lecture are both about birds who can not discern between glass and open air. Whereas the author of the reading states that there are several solutions which can use to prevent harms to birds, the lecturer suggests that non of these solutions can stop birds from injuries. The lecturer casts doubt on the main points made in the reading by providing three reasons.

First of all, according to the reading, regular glass is the solution to the problem in a way the glass forms a solid barrier. However, the lecturer disputes this point. He says that these regular glasses have reflection and they reflact act like mirror. Furthermore, he mentions that the birds even do not understand the mirror and when they see the picture of sky or tree in them, they just fly to them.

Secondly, the reading states that buildings' windows could have a design of thin stripes pictured over the glass which help birds see the strips and eschew trying to fly through them. Nevertheless, the lecturer refutes this argument. He argues that birds percieve these openings between strips, for people in the building to see out, as an open whole and through them. In addition, he points out if this solution want to be successful, they should paint stipes extremly small, so this leads to be drak for anyone who is in the building.

Finally, the reading claims that creation an artificial magnetic filed helps to guide birds away from constructions. On the other hand, the lecturer believes that although the birds have a natural ability to sense Earth's magnetic field, they use them only in long distances travel. In fact, birds use Earth's magnetic field when migrate before winter to warm countries. Moreover, he feels that birds use their eyes and brightness of light for going from one side to another side. Therefore, an artificial magnetic filed have no effect on them.
