novel reader decrease
The speaker contradicts the points with regards to three different points knowledge, culture and quality of novel as stated in passage by giving relevent points and examples that prove otherwise.
Firstly, he points out that as per passage high quality intellectual reading material is available only in novels and due to reduction in number of readers we are lacking in imagination and understanding of language. However this, according to speaker, is a misconception in reality there are other sourses of knowledge like science books and other types of books with information. Thus he unequivocally negates the information given in passage.
secondly, he opposes about information given in passage regarding decline in culture as well. he clarifies that culture is not affected by movies and music. The do not lower the culture. Furthermore, now a days novels are contemptory means of culture and now there is more than novels in the form of music and movies and this is indication of changing culture.
Thirdly, he denies the validity of another point that was averred on the passage with regards to difficulty level of writings. In passage it was stated that now good reader are available and good material is generating but no audience available to read this so the funds on writer is decreasing. In contrary of this point speaker explains that authors intended to write on more difficult level so audience of literature like have decreased over time. Furthermore he said that people from past will not prefer this literature due to its high difficulty level.
Hence in conclusion, the speaker lucidly substantiates his points with cogency
