Pros and cons of four-days a week policy

The article discuss idea of working four-days a week and how it will be good for company’s profit, country’s economy and whole life of it’s employees. However, the lecturer in the reading points out the issues present in this argument and thinks that this will not be the case. He contradict each and every claim made in the reading passage.
First and foremost, the writer states that employees working for four-days a week will receive 80% of their salary and new employee can be hired from these savings, thus, making overall profit to the company. The lecturer do not think that this will be the case and disagrees. He states that this will results into more cost to the company as they will look to hire more employee. To accommodate these new employees, the company will need more space, computers, medical insurencse and, training. This will lead to more spending than saving money.
The writer also suggests that as company will new hire new employees, the national unemployment rate will also go down and from four, four-days work a week employees, one new employee can be hired at the normal rate of 80%. Not surprisingly, lecturer finds issue with this suggestion. According to him, this will not decrease unemployment rate, rather the company will expect from their employees to do five-days equivalent work in four-days. So instead of having new jobs, there will be additional workload for the employees.
The writer wraps argumts by claiming that as a result of reduced work day, employees will have more free time and that will increase quality of their lives by investing on family and hobbies. Of course, though, lecturer explains that more free time will decrease there quality of life. Working less hours will decrease their job stability and they will be first to loose their job during any economic instability. He further explain that they will not have career advancement and, probably no job promotio, as administration will look for someone who could provide more supervision.
To conclude, the writer and lecturer have very different thoughts on the four-days a week policy.
