The passage and the lecture discuss the migration hypothesis of specific kinds of dinosaurs during winters. The reading presents three reasons that explain why this hypothesis is true. Whereas, the lecture argues with all of these reasons by pointing out that why none of them are convincing.
First, the reading claims dinosaurs had to migrate because they couldn't find food in winter. However, the professor refutes this reason completely. He states that because of long sunshine in summers and warmer conditions, plants could grow in good condition. As a result, he believes this led to the existence of a lot of dead plant matters in which dinosaurs could eat during winter.
Second, the passage claims the dinosaurs lived in a herd. Thus, the hypothesis could be true because a lot of modern-day migratory animals live in a herd too. However, the lecture argues with this statement and believes animals didn't live in herds because of migration. Indeed, they live in a herd to protect themselves from predators. She presents an example of a specific animal that lives in a herd and never migrated before.
Third, the reading the dinosaurs were physically capable to migrate long distances. However, the professor disagrees with this point. She states although the mature dinosaurs could travel such long distances, the younger one hadn't this capability. Besides, they couldn't survive on their own during winter. Therefore, they couldn't migrate at all.
Although the reading presents three reasons to support the idea of the dinosaurs migration during winters, the professor believes none of them are convincing and explain her reasons.
