Both the passage and the lecture put forth on the solutions to prevent damages that threaten birds when they hit the glass. The author brings three solutions, however, the professor asserts that none of those solutions can be effective according to reasons that are elaborated hereupon
First, the writer alleges that using one-way glass can be a good solution to prevent damages. However, the lecturer refutes this notion because in his view these glasses act as a mirror, so they can be as dangerous as simple glasses because when the birds see the reflection of sky and tree in the glass they think that they are real and fly toward them.
Furthermore, the text argues that using colorful designs can be a good solution. However, the talk rebuts this opinion because when the birds see the simple sections, they envision them as open holes, hence, fly through them and if we want to solve this problem we should make these sections very small but this action causes darkness inside the building.
Finally, the author indicates that using a magnetic field is a beneficial solution. However, the lecture rejects this solution by explaining that birds use the magnetic field for their long-distance trips but for their short-distance trip it is not applicable, and birds use their eyes and the brightness of the light for this purpose. Therefore, this method cannot be effective.
