Life is a voyage from dependence to independence, destinations open up new meanings, reveals new horizons and in this journey of life people do pass away from different phases- infancy, childhood, adulthood, old-age. Each phase carries its memories, experiences and consequences to the next stage and so the complete cycle is a viciously-inter-related. In this regard, I feel what matters in life is your attitude towards it, not the age-group you belong to and so I feel it is incorrect to say that young people enjoy life more than older people do.
