The table below gives information about changes in modes of travel in England between 1985 and 2000.
The mentioned table illustrates the data on different modes of travel that were popular in England between the year 1985 and 2000.
In general, most people preferred car as the best mode of travel in both the years. However, only few people preferred taxi and bicycle in both the years.
As can be seen from the table, the car was the most popular mode of travel in 1985 and 2000 and accounted for average of 3199 miles and 4806 miles respectively. However, there was a slight decrement of 18 miles in the average miles of walking in the year 2000.Also,the average miles of bicycle dropped significantly from 51 miles to 41 miles. In addition to this, it is noticeable that there was a drastic decline of 429 to 274 miles with that of local bus in the year 11985 and 2000 respectively.
It is clear from the table that the long distance bus doubled the average miles in 2000 with 124 miles. Likewise, there was a slight rose in the train with the average miles of 77 in the year 2000 as that of 1985.Moreover,the taxi had three-fold the average miles as that of 1985(13 miles).Furthermore, the other modes of travel exceeded to 585 miles from 450 miles in the year 2000.
