Overall, the most significant popular age of Taiwanese using the Internet was from 16 to 30 years old, while the groups which aged 50 or more and that under 15 years old accounted for the minor proportion in the chart.
Firstly, looking at the absolute majority of the Internet users in Taiwan, it is clear that the percentage of the Internet users from 16 to 50 years old was at least four-fold higher than the combined of the left age groups. In detail, there was 53% people from 16 to 30 years old accessed to the Internet in 1998. Though this figure moderately decreased over the period of the next two years to score at 45% in 1999 and 44% in 2000, it remained as the most significant observed portion. Also, the second position belonged to the group of age from 31 to 50 years with the slightly dropping of 2%, from 41% in 1998 to 39% in 1999, before continuing to fall by 2%, at 37% in 2000.
Secondly, regarding the two remaining factors. The percentage of old people aged 50 or more years old using the Internet doubled from 4% in 1998 to 8% in 1999, then kept increasing to reach 10% in 2000, while the rate of the under 15 years old Internet users rose up four-fold in two previous years, from 2% to 8%, and climbed to 9% in the last of tracking year.
