Consumer spending on different items in five countries
The table illustrates the consumer expenditure on various elements in 5 nations in 2004.
Overall, the spending on food, drinks and tobacco was highest in 5 countries, then by clothing and footwear, leisure and education. Turkey has the percentage on food, drinks and tobacco as well as leisure and education both rank first in the table while the figure of leisure and education on Spain was the lowest.
The percentage of spending on food, beverages and tobacco in Turkey was the highest of 32,14%, followed by Ireland with 28,91% and Spain with 18,80%. The expenditures on clothing and footwear of these countries were relatively similar of 6,63%, 6,43% and 6,51%, respectively. Turkish use 4,35% of their budget on leisure and education, compares with 2,21% of Irish and 1,98% of Spanish.
Italy and Sweden were 2 countries spend the least amount of money on food, drinks and tobacco with 16,36% and 15,77%. These figures of leisure and education however were similar high of 3,2% and 3,22%, respectively. Italian use a lot of money on clothing and footwear with 9,00%, compares with only 5,4% of Swedish.
